Annie’s Personal Career Transition Story

As a small-town newspaper reporter in rural Kansas, Annie enjoyed meeting fascinating people and telling their stories. But after a few years of grueling schedules, scarce benefits, and even scarcer pay, it was time for a change. While she loved the variety that came with her next step, marketing and communications work at higher ed institutions, she realized she really wanted to work with students.

Leaving full-time work to pursue graduate education was a big leap, but has led to an incredibly fulfilling career that Annie loves waking up to each day. Her cats Boogie and Boo think she should wake up a bit earlier, though, to better align with their interest in breakfast.
