Coach and Trainer

Annie has been a career coach and trainer for 6 years, specializing in working with both young adults navigating higher education, but also older adults transitioning careers. Her specialties include education exploration (high school to college, college to marketplace), marketing for change, job search strategies, networking, and identity-inclusive coaching.

As a sober, queer, non-monogamous gal with a sprinkle of non-apparent disabilities, Annie has experience navigating many identities in the world of work. Through her experience coaching at large, diverse universities, she has extensive experience coaching interculturally and in spaces not traditionally accommodating to diverse folks.

Annie started her career as a small-town newspaper reporter before transitioning into marketing and communications work in higher education, and then into career coaching. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Kansas and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development in Higher Education from the University of Minnesota.

Annie’s Personal Career Transition Story

As a small-town newspaper reporter in rural Kansas, Annie enjoyed meeting fascinating people and telling their stories. But after a few years of grueling schedules, scarce benefits, and even scarcer pay, it was time for a change to better care for mental health. While she loved the variety that came with marketing and communications work at higher ed institutions, she realized she really wanted to work with students.

Leaving full-time work to pursue graduate education was a big leap and lots to navigate, but has led to an incredibly fulfilling career that Annie loves waking up to each day. Her cat Boogie thinks she should wake up a bit earlier though to better align with his interest in 6 am breakfast.
